FCPE

THE FUND FOR CHILDREN AND PUBLIC EDUCATION FACTS:

1.     Union dues dollars CANNOT be used for candidates.

2.     FCPE is a bipartisan fund used to support candidates from both parties who support public education.

3.     FCPE gives us a seat at the table.  It does not guarantee we will get what we need but it does guarantee us a voice.

Even if you have never voted for an NEA or OEA endorsed candidate FCPE is still an important fund for you.  Why?  Because the fund represents your professional and personal interests like class size, testing, compensations, work hours, retirement, and evaluations just to name a few. As Educators, we are united in our belief that we want to protect children, improve public schools, and strengthen the teaching profession.

WHO CONTROLS THE FOLLOWING?

Who controls your retirement, class sizes, professional development, calamity days, sick days, testing, school funding, Title I, Headstart, your Healthcare, your salary, evaluations, school transportation, severance pay, school hours, school calendar, curriculum, licensure, licensure fees, school vouchers and charter school funding?

If you answered “politicians and their appointees” then you’re correct.

A commitment to FCPE is essential because the vast majority of educational policies are not controlled by teachers, but by politicians who have zero classroom experience.
